Wednesday, February 24th, 2010I have been promoting books for over 33 years. Every week without fail an author calls me up and says he needs publicity right now! His book is coming out next week and he had better get on Oprah or he will die. I usually ask if he knew his book was coming out next week- He he says sure- Well what the heck have you been doing for the past 6 months? You need to start your publicity campaign 6 months before your book comes out. You need to reserve the url for the title of your book, you need your web site, your social media- Facebook, Linked in, Twitter, Utube and Filedby-
You need to plan for radio, TV and print on pub date. And this all takes time- Plan early- Bring in experts, do local media first- and for God’s sake- don’t flip out if you don’t get on Oprah!
