******”A Rick Tip”******

Write down 5 points on index cards before you are about to do an interview.

Practice - Practice - Practice- till you get all your point to sound natural.

Get it perfect.  Remember- Practice makes perfect…

Not always= PERFECT practice makes PERFECT!

Remember an answer has 3 parts….

Problem…….Example of the problem……. and solution.

You need to practice this an give the audience THREE things they can do today that will change their life. Don’t SELL when you are on the air.  TEACH!

The more you teach them - the more they will want to buy whatever you are selling.

******”A Rick Tip”******

This is a story about my friend and client Kurt Eichenwald- reporter for the New York Times and author of “Serpent on the Rock”

(His book was about Prudential Securities and how they were doing ” bad things”.)

He had his book with him on the plane from New York to Los Angeles. He was sitting and reading his own book!

As he read it he was uttering- “wow this is great stuff!” It turns out that a producer from 60 Minutes was sitting next to him.

Because he had his book with him (and he was reading it) Kurt was booked on 60 Minutes! That moment on the plane

changed his life. Kurt became a bestseller- and then went on to do a story . It hit the front page of the

New York Times every week. The story was about another company who’s name started with an E.

Yup- Kurt helped bring down Enron.

Always have your book with you! You never know who you are going to meet.

More next week…

A “Rick Tip” about Amazon

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

******”A Rick Tip”******

Late a night when you can’t sleep-Go to www.amazon.com.
Research books that are similar to yours.
Get those books and then write 5 star reviews on the books that you think are great. Make sure that you put that your are the author of _____ and put in your web site. Now when people search their book on Amazon-  they will see your review and check out your book as well.

This costs nothing and here is the good news…..
The author of the book that you just reviewed will be so happy-
they will give your book a 5 Star review.
